A lower noble house, the mercantile House Spencer is one of the fringe vassals of the High House Haillenarte. Developed in the Dragonsong War during a time of need, the small house has been a longtime proprietor of smaller businesses and entrepreneurships meant to help stimulate and improve the Ishgardian economy. Within the past hundred and eighty years, the family was finally able to secure a place in The Pillars, albeit upon a rather small property.Founded by Dalleaux Spencer a scant few centuries ago, House Spencer is a relatively new and comparatively small House. The Spencers made their mark as noteworthy and distinctly reliable traders during the Dragonsong War. Notable connections to other merchants in Eorzea initially helped them gain standing and then a lower title for their deeds for Ishgard, a fact that finds little favor among the older and more established Houses. When the rest of Eorzea went to war with Garlemald, the Spencers found their longtime contacts dwindling in the face of this new threat, either by loss of standing or loss of life. As their influence as merchants diminished, so too did much of their favor with the more established Houses of Ishgard. Despite this, its members continued to strive for the continued success of their family. After a series of specific events, House Spencer took several unfortunately heavy financial hits. The Lord of the House did his best to recoup the loss and find favor with Lady Luck, but her rejection saw further financial drain upon the House. Misfortune after misfortune befell the House Spencer afterwards, resulting in their subsequent fall from grace. Now an impoverished House, they are nobles in name only, and three of its members have taken this with outwardly quiet acceptance.

Firstborn son of House Spencer, Elias Aldéric Gaultier de Spencer led the life of a dutiful son of a minor house, and worked to become a suitable heir for the mercantile family. As he grew, the needs of the Dragonsong War demanded more support from each lower house, and he was sent into the ranks of the Congregation of Our Knights Most Heavenly. There, he flourished as a page, then as a squire, and finally as a full-fledged Temple Knight. When his house fell, he became more reliant upon his station with the Church, vowing to himself not to become a further smear upon his family's name. He now resides in The Brume alongside his recently adopted ward, Celestine.

Second son of the House Spencer, Liam grew up knowing that the expectations of him aligned less with succession and more with betterment of the House name. Born Liam Adélard Bérenger de Spencer, his parents spared little expense on both their sons’ educations and upbringings.Unfortunately, an expensive education is still no match for real-world experience. During an outing as a squire alongside his knighted brother, the small group was ambushed by a dragon and Liam was severely injured in the resulting fight. Rushed back to the safety of the walls of Ishgard, the chirurgeon could not save his left limbs and thus ended young Liam’s stint as a squire. As one versed in etiquette and the teachings of Halone, Liam quietly became a member of the Church after his life-saving surgery and prosthetic limb replacements, and worked as a clerk and then a rector for several years, dutifully finding small joys in balanced ledgers and books filled with black ink. The upset of Thordan’s treachery has seen his trust in the mortal members of the Church severely depleted, but his faith in The Fury unshaken. He traded in his vestments for more secular work, and is now an Auditor for the city-state.He has recently married Lady Maeva de Faepoix, in what was not concealed as an arranged marriage between Houses Faepoix and Spencer.

Cunning, dignified, shrewd, pragmatic, well-spoken.The Lady of House Spencer is not outwardly known for her warmth or kindness, but rather her keen eye for details and sharp mind. The first daughter and second child of House Daicent, the responsibility to support her future family came early, and she bore it silently. She married Baron Henri de Spencer and had two sons she inwardly adores and outwardly stays firm with, Ser Elias de Spencer and Lord Liam Spencer de Faepoix, and was granted guardianship of a third boy when Henri took the him in as a ward of the House.
When her husband's actions caused the House to fall from its grace and standing, she bore that as well — albeit less silently — and did her best to secure a haven of sorts for each of the men in her life: encouragement into The Church for her youngest, orders into the arms of the Temple Knights for her eldest, and as many reassurances to her dear, successful ward that she and the Lord would be fine. She presently resides with a family as a governess, attending to the studies of the House's youngest and teaching his sisters the proper etiquette for polite society.
A man who courts Lady Luck and is repeatedly spurned, Henri de Spencer has always reached for what's just out of reach and rooted for the underdog to overcome its circumstances.Married to Baroness Fleur de Spencer, he is father to Ser Elias de Spencer and Lord Liam Spencer de Faepoix, and took guardianship of a third boy by making him a ward of the House. As the Head of House Spencer, the blame for its most recent fall from grace falls squarely to his shoulders; a burden that has been steadily crushing him. To mitigate this pain, he has taken to his drink — a liquid escape from worldly problems as he mostly keeps to his own company in The Brume.

As a fallen house, many connections will have to be made as ones formed in the past, before its fall from activity. Conversation is welcomed to create these connections, whether they be longstanding and renewed, or potential new prospects:
◈ Mercantile contacts of the family are always welcome, new or old
◈ Temple Knights/Dragoons might know both or one of the sons, at varying points of their military careers
◈ Religious affiliates may see the members for Mass or remember Liam working with the church
◈ Social contacts who have known Fleur, Liam, or Elias for several years, or know of the House's downfall
◈ House Staff would have been let go, but still are open for contact with The Lady of The HouseHooks for Elias:
◈ A sociable member of the Temple Knights, he is amicable and open to casual conversation between other coworkers and Dragoons who have shared in the defense of Ishgard and her peoples.
◈ Yes, he has opinions about the end of the Dragonsong War. Perhaps he'll share them with you if you ask nicely.
◈ Are you a merchant or small business owner? There might be a conversation to be had if you want to gain a foothold in Ishgard.
⌺ No, you didn't see him late at night leaving that Noble House from the servant's door. Stop asking.
⌺There's no reason for him to talk about Celeste, but your concern for her race is noted.Hooks for Liam:
◈ An avid bookworm, he's read an exorbitant number of books, and is always on the hunt for new ones.
◈ He's recently married, and newly worried about the married life and all its twists and turns.
◈ As an auditor for The Holy See and Ishgard's residents, he has a knack for numbers and enjoys tidy ledgers. If you need someone to consult about Ishgardian tax laws, he's knowledgeable enough to provide assistance.
⌺ Yes, his left arm and leg are made of metal. What of it?
⌺ Once a squire for a Temple Knight, he has some field experience, but best of luck getting him to talk at length about it.
